Example text demonstrating dialogue writing with direct speech based on the historical novel Street Child by Berlie Doherty, set in Victorian London. The model text contains a conversation between Jim’s sisters, Emily and Lizzie, about the break-up of their family. Three differentiated versions of the text have been included for different ability levels. The model text can be used as a WAGOLL to examine using the differentiated Feature Find worksheets (answers included) before children attempt their own dialogue writing based on the book.
